SOAR is a perfect description of how I feel making art. Emotions surge and SOAR in all directions.
I've always loved opposition and resolution. Ever since I was a child, I've been exploring this duality. These Kingfisher birds express joy, fearlessness, vulnerability and freedom. Oh to be able to fly! They appear throughout my art making career. Birds seek balance and so do I. Pretty cool. While crows are known for being mischievous, they are highly intelligent, adaptable and audacious. A challenge and a thrill to bring to life.
I love that the human form represents nature. It is a true landscape of attraction and dichotomy, one that I constantly explore. We see ourselves everywhere in nature whether in flowers, trees, rivers, sky, clouds or birds.
To bring all of these elements together I use collage and mixed media to layer and enrich the surface, to unify the whole. These handmade papers from around the world begged to be part of this process. They are so gorgeous. A fantastic discovery.
Lastly, color. I thrive on color. It's my panacea. Vivid, fiery teeming with energy or soft, muted, subtle, all beautiful, all ever present. It is the cord that units my work. So glad you're here. Please enjoy!
